Vintage

The 2023 vintage in Marlborough was exceptional. Unsettled and cooler weather over flowering resulted in lighter bunches, with the smaller crop load on our grape vines helping to concentrate flavours. Summer bought a more settled weather pattern, with cool nights that reduced disease pressure. The extended ripening period allowed us to harvest Sauvignon Blanc as it was perfectly ripe, while cool evenings preserved vibrant acidity in the grapes, which has balanced the concentrated fruit flavour and aromatics.

Winemaking
Sauvignon Blanc is grown in free-draining alluvial soils that our vines thrive in. After harvest the fruit is gently pressed, then cold settled prior to fermentation. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks, using selected yeast strains to enhance the aromatics. The finished wine is aged for several months on yeast lees, prior to bottling.
